As part of the commemoration of the centennial of Banco de la República (the Central Bank of Colombia), this Wednesday, 15 November, the digital collection of 12 Banrep Centennial books on the monetary history of Colombia and the role of Banco de la República in the economic stability and cultural management of the country during its first one hundred years of existence will be launched.

This is a collection in which nearly forty authors participated, most of whom were employees of the Bank at the time they wrote their works. These books were produced in different periods and represent a valuable source of information and knowledge generation for future research on the economic and cultural history of the country.

The books that are part of this collection and which can be accessed free of charge by citizens are the following:

The PDF version and the electronic publication (EPUB) of these books can be downloaded from the Banrep books and chapters section (only in Spanish).

The Historical Statistical Series

The “Historical Statistical Series of Colombia,” a new statistical database that gathers the historical information of the main economic series of Colombia, is also available to the public.

This new product, presented as part of the celebration of Banco de la República (BanRep)'s 100th anniversary, compiles historical information on Colombia's economic series using as a basis the compilation published by the Bank in 1997 and complementing it with other sources such as the National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE in Spanish), the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit, the National Planning Department (DNP in Spanish), and the Financial Superintendency, among others.

The available data series are classified into the following categories, each of which has a note detailing the methodological aspects:

  1. Monetary aggregates and loan portfolio
  2. Financial accounts
  3. Labor market
  4. Prices and inflation
  5. Gross domestic product (GDP)
  6. Foreign reserves
  7. Public sector
  8. Exchange rates and external sector
  9. Interest rates

For more information on the notes detailing the methodological aspects of these categories, please visit the Historical Statistical Series of Colombia.
