Keep in mind these seven security recommendations for Bre-B
In response to reports from users regarding attempted fraud, Banco de la República (the Central Bank of Colombia) presents a series of recommendations to help prevent individuals from falling victim to criminals. Several financial institutions across the country have joined these efforts by sharing this information with their customers and providing guidance on the necessary precautions.

- The most common scam involves sending a fraudulent link via text message. Please note that THERE IS NO NEED TO ACCEPT ANY TRANSACTION made through an Alias sent via text message, e-mail, WhatsApp, or any other channel.
- Users will simply receive confirmation of the transfer. No further action is required. There is no need to reply to text or WhatsApp messages, or to click on any links received through any channel.

- Registering and uploading aliases-related information is completely free for users. No financial institution charges any fees for this process.

- To register Aliases, you must log in to your financial institution’s mobile app or official website. This process CANNOT be completed through third-party websites or over the phone.

- An Alias is an alphanumeric code, a cell-phone number, a national ID number, or an e-mail address. Under no circumstances shall it be the password used to authenticate yourself with your financial institution.

- Your financial institution’s mobile app is the official channel for using Bre-B. The system does not have an application of its own.

- Neither Bre-B nor Bre-B Aliases have accounts on any social media platforms such as Instagram, X, or TikTok, among others. Also, Bre-B does not have its own website. Official information about Bre-B is available only on Banco de la República’s website and on the websites of financial institutions participating in the new ecosystem, which are currently promoting Alias registration.

- Financial institutions are primarily responsible for registration of Aliases. If users experience issues or have questions related to security, they should contact their institution directly, especially if they have doubts about the legitimacy of a text message, phone call, or any other form of contact.
- Please note that some institutions are already offering the ability to make payments and transfers using Aliases as part of pilot programs being developed ahead of the official launch of Bre-B.
- Starting on 22 September 2025, the option to make payments and transfers through the Bre-B zone will be enabled.
