Historical Statistical Series for Colombia

This database was built as part of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of Banco de la República (the Central Bank of Colombia). It compiles historical information from various Colombian economic series, based on the compilation published by the Bank in 1997, complemented with data from sources such as the National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE in Spanish), the Ministry of Finance, the National Planning Department, and the Financial Superintendency of Colombia, among others.

For some of the series, splicing was necessary to provide long series. Additionally, econometric or statistical methods were applied to fill in some information gaps.

The available data series are classified into 9 categories, each with a methodological note.

1. Monetary aggregates and loan portfolio

Monetary aggregates are the set of financial assets that fulfill the functions of money, i.e., those that serve as a means of payment and store of value. The loan portfolio corresponds to the balance of loans granted by credit institutions.
