Banco de la República purchased USD 2 billion from the National Government to complement its international reserve accumulation program
The purchase was made at the prevailing Representative Market Exchange Rate (TRM for its Spanish Acronym).
With this transaction, the country’s international reserves increased by USD 2 billion, providing an additional buffer in dollars to weather potential episodes of external instability. The purchase is part of the international reserve accumulation program the Bank has been carrying out since August 2026, which continues under the same terms and schedule as announced. The Bank is monitoring the transaction’s effect on the amount of money available in the economy and will take the necessary measures to ensure short-term interest rates remain in line with the monetary policy rate.
