Bicentennial Collection - National Economy Archive

The Bicentennial Collection of the National Economy Archive was a project of the Office of the Governor of Banco de la República (the Central Bank of Colombia) to commemorate the bicentennial of the independence of Colombia. The project began in 2010 and aimed to select a series of relevant books on the Colombian economy written between the 18th and 20th centuries to be reedited and reprinted by Banco de la República.

At the time, Governor José Darío Uribe appointed an editorial committee for the collection, who then selected the works. This committee was comprised of Malcolm Deas, Roberto Junguito, Adolfo Meisel, Jorge Orlando Melo, Diego Pizano, María Teresa Ramírez, and Miguel Urrutia.

All the books chosen for the collection had a foreword and/or were reedited by an expert on the subject, contextualizing the importance of each of the works. In this way, the Bicentennial Collection of Banco de la República contributed to the tradition of publishing works of great use for the study of the economic history of Colombia.

This collection reissued a total of 10 books, which are available for download.
