The Regional Economic Bulletin (BER) is a quarterly publication produced since 2003, whose purpose is to provide the economic agents and the general public with periodic, reliable, and timely information on the evolution of the main variables of the economic activity in the regions of the country, following the own classification of Banco de la República (the Central Bank of Colombia).

Publication Date:

In the third quarter, the Central Region’s economy declined in its annual comparative due to a deterioration in demand and high interest rates. Industry saw a deepened decline from previous months due to lower sales, while agricultural production, passenger transportation, and construction all experienced reductions, with the latter responding to prolonged declines in new housing sales and related credit disbursements. On the other hand, exports decreased-especially coffee exports-and imports increased, mainly capital goods and raw materials. Despite the economic deterioration, the unemployment rate fell in Ibagué and Florencia, whereas inflation moderated in the three capital cities.
