On January 27, Olga Lucía Acosta took Office as Board Member at Banco de la República

Last Friday, 27 January 2023, the prominent economist Olga Lucia Acosta-Navarro formally took office as a member of the Board of Directors of Banco de la República (the Central Bank of Colombia). On the same day, she participated in her first Board of Directors meeting, the one corresponding to the first month of the year. Ms. Acosta-Navarro replaced PhD Alberto Carrasquilla-Barrera.

The new member of the Board of Directors of Banco de la República is an economist and researcher with a specialization in Economic Policy and Regulation and a master’s degree in Development Economics from the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne.

In previous years, she held different positions at the Economic Research Department of Banco de la República. She was also an Advisor on the Fiscal Policy Board at the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit, editor of the Coyuntura Social magazine, associate researcher at Fedesarrollo, and recently, officer in charge of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) in Bogotá.

The new Board Member has broad teaching experience at Universidad del Rosario, Universidad de Los Andes, Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, Universidad Nacional de Colombia, and Universidad Externado de Colombia.

Banco de la República and the Board of Directors welcomed Ms. Acosta-Navarro and thanked Mr. Alberto-Carrasquilla, former member of the Board, for his contribution to the Institution regarding monetary policy decisions made by the Central Bank during his tenure.
