Bogotá to Host the OECD Regional Symposium on Financial Education for Latin America and the Caribbean
The event, led by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), Banca de las Oportunidades, and Banco de la República (the Central Bank of Colombia), will bring together government authorities, international experts, academics, and representatives of the public and private sectors on 24 July to discuss progress and challenges in financial education in the region.
The event will take place as part of the 10th Meeting of the OECD/INFE (International Network on Financial Education) Regional Network for Latin America and the Caribbean, with the participation of representatives from multilateral organizations, central banks, public entities, and academia. This international dialogue forum seeks to strengthen the population’s financial capabilities and promote the exchange of public policy best practices in the region.
The symposium will cover topics such as the safe use of instant digital payments and open finance, the prevention of financial fraud, financial education in schools, gender gaps in financial capabilities, and the impact of artificial intelligence on personal finance.
The agenda includes remarks by Yasushi Masaki, Deputy Secretary-General of the OECD; Paola Arias, Director of Banca de las Oportunidades; Leonardo Villar Gómez, Governor of Banco de la República; and Mauricio Villamizar, Member of the Board of Directors of Banco de la República.
