In the fourth quarter of 2025, the northeast region’s economy recorded positive results in most sectors, driven by stronger domestic demand and improved weather conditions. Domestic trade continued to grow, reaching a record in vehicle registrations. Manufacturing expanded in the department of Santander and moderated its contraction in Boyacá. The agricultural sector grew due to a more favorable rainfall regime, and housing sales increased. Regarding foreign trade, imports of consumer goods rose, and exports declined due to lower coal shipments. Inflation moderated slightly and unemployment decreased.
Agricultural production increased due to favorable weather conditions and a favorable base effect, which explained the progress in the harvest of oil palm fruit, rice, fruits, and vegetables. In livestock activity, pig and cattle slaughter stood out amid stronger domestic consumption.

Manufacturing expanded in Santander supported by higher fuel production, the dynamism of domestic consumption, and operational normalization. In Boyacá, the decline moderated despite lower production of beverages and metallurgical products, the latter pressured by import competition.

Commerce maintained its growth, explained by adequate inventories, a better promotional season, and a strong improvement in consumer confidence. Vehicle registrations reached their highest level since 2014, and motorcycle registrations recorded a historic high, driven by new brands and improved financing conditions.
