The event held in Medellín and attended by a delegate from the Ministry of Information and Communication Technologies (MITC), the Governor of Banco de la República, and 4-72 executives paid homage to the Bank’s work to preserve Colombia's cultural heritage represented in archaeological, bibliographic, and art collections that reflect the country’s history and are, in themselves, icons of the Nation's cultural memory.
This issue is composed of 60 thousand stamps with a face value of COP $2,000 that highlight pre-Columbian pieces such as the Poporo Quimbaya, jewels of colonial goldsmithing such as La Lechuga, works of art such as Fernando Botero's Mandolina sobre una silla (Mandolin on a Chair), emblematic places such as the Concert Hall of the Luis Ángel Arango Library, or the museums renovated for this centennial such as the Zenú Gold Museum in Cartagena, the Quimbaya Gold Museum in Armenia, and the Casa Moneda Museum in Bogotá.
With this event, the Ministry of Information and Communication Technologies reaffirmed the commitment the Servicios Postales Nacionales 4-72 to graphically immortalize institutions that work daily to make the country's cultural wealth available to Colombians and to guarantee, through philatelic issues, its dissemination over time.
