Banco de la República takes part in the Bogotá International Book Fair 2026 (FILBo in Spanish)
As part of the Bogotá International Book Fair, two Board Members will participate this Thursday, 23 April in a talk open to the public about their book "Mitos y realidades de la política monetaria," a work that clarifies key concepts related to the Bank’s functions, thus promoting an informed debate on the role of monetary policy in the country.
During the event, Bibiana Taboada and Mauricio Villamizar will address the main topics of the book and, together with the directors of "Economía para la pipol," will engage in an open dialogue to explain the role, scope, and challenges of monetary policy in Colombia within the current economic context in a simple manner.
Monetary policy and central banking are recurring topics in public debate, particularly during periods of economic uncertainty. However, these discussions often stem from mistaken preconceptions or imprecise interpretations that do not always reflect reality. In response to this context, "Mitos y realidades de la política monetaria" aims to promote an informed and rigorous discussion by transparently presenting the arguments and processes that guide decision-making in this area.
With the aim of reaching a broad audience, the Board Members will address in this FILBo event several of the topics covered in their book that have gained increasing relevance on the agendas of central banks, such as inflation, interest rates, the labor market, output, the exchange rate, climate change, inequality, and public policies, among others.
As part of the Fair, the conversation will provide an opportunity to bring these debates closer to the public and to strengthen public understanding of one of the central pillars of the country’s economic policy.
