COP$10,000 Legal Tender Silver Coin, 500th Anniversary of the Discovery of America

This coin is part of a set of 14 units minted by the following countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, Chile, Ecuador, México, Nicaragua, Perú, Portugal, Spain, Uruguay, and Venezuela. Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre de España (The National Spanish Mint) issued 50,000 numbered and certified sets of this collection for worldwide distribution: 1st Ibero-American Commemorative Coin Series – A Meeting of Two worlds - 1492-1992. As a standard feature, each of the 14 coins in the collection bears the coat of arms of the issuing country, surrounded by the 13 coats of arms of the other nations taking part in this commemorative series.
