Banco de la República (the Central Bank of Colombia) promotes the generation and dissemination of economic and financial knowledge as a core component of its institutional mission. This is done through rigorous research, statistical production, and comprehensive economic education programs, all aimed at strengthening the understanding of economic policy and the functioning of the financial system.
The Bank’s main actions in this area include:
- Economic and financial research (only in Spanish) that analyzes both the Colombian and global economies.
- Production and dissemination of statistical information (only in Spanish) that adheres to international standards of quality, transparency, and accessibility.
- Organization and participation in seminars, forums, academic events, and research networks (only in Spanish)to foster the exchange of ideas and specialized knowledge.
- Sponsorship of graduate programs (only in Spanish) in Colombia and abroad to promote specialized training in key areas relevant to the development of the country.
- Publication of books, working papers, and specialized journals to make research findings available to interested audiences.
- Economic education programs designed to raise awareness and understanding of issues related to the central bank’s functions.
