National Paper Competition: Jesús Antonio Bejarano

The National Congress of Economics Students, annually organized by the National Federation of Students of Economics (Fenadeco in Spanish), has more than thirty years of history. Its goal is to strengthen and diversify academic spaces that contribute to comprehensive training of future economists of the country.

During every congress, the National Paper Competition “Jesús Antonio Bejarano” is held. This competition aims to provide academic spaces through which economics students can reflect upon economic theory and phenomena that affect society. A group of renowned professionals in the economic field has been involved in the selection and assessment stages of the contest. They have been able to highlight innovative aspects of the finalist papers, either in the theoretical or practical field.

Banco de la República (the Central Bank of Colombia) has supported this initiative, given its role as promoter of knowledge and cultural activity in the country. Its officials, academic, and professional experts have also participated in several stages of this competition. This support allows the academic community to get closer to Banco de la República’s work.It also allows the development of knowledge through the relationship between participant students and the Bank’s officials, who are part of the jury team.
