Central Banking Course

General Objective

Banco de la República (the Central Bank of Colombia) and the Network of Researchers in Economics provide the Central Banking course. It is a free course to study in depth topics related to macroeconomics and monetary policy, along with a significant component of analysis and application in the Colombian economy, based on Banco de la República´s experience. 

The course has been designed to be offered on-site or online every year in all the country’s regions. It is also supported by universities that are interested in co-organizing the course. The target audience is students of economics in the country. To this end, we have a first-level professional team made up of the Central Bank’s technical team members who have broad teaching and professional experience.

Overview 

  • The applicant must be a student enrolled in an Economics program in the country.
  • Minimum 10 and maximum 35 students
  • This is a 1-to-2-week course.
  • It is free of charge.
  • The student must take an entrance exam and complete a strict admissions process.
  • The Central Bank reserves the right of admission and permanence of students in accordance with their commitment, respect, and compliance with the Central Bank’s regulations and its facilities where the course takes place.
  • At the beginning and at the end of the course, the student must take an entrance exam and a final exam, respectively.
