| 1/ | In 1996, DANE, the National Department of Statistics, the entity officially responsible for National Accounts in Colombia, started the task of adapting these accounts to the United Nations methodology (SCN93). This project includes the change of the base year to 1994 and producing quarterly figures for GDP. Currently, DANE has released the annual national account figures corresponding to 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999 and 2000 at current and constant 1994 prices and the quarterly national account since 1994 to 2001 at current and constant 1994 prices for demand and ofert. |
| 2/ | DANE redesigned the methodology of the Monthly Manufacturing Sample. The new base of the Industrial Production Index and Industrial wage index is the monthly average of year 2001=100. |
| 3/ | Starting 2000 the National Department of Statistics (DANE) introduced methodological changes for calculating the employment and unemployment figures. The data are disseminated on the new Household Survey with four important changes: i) now the periodicity is monthly instead of quarterly; ii) new changes and new concepts were introduced to calculate the variables of employment and unemployment; iii) a new indicator was defined for employment and unemployment with national information including the thirteen major cities plus the rest of the urban areas and most of the rural areas of the country; and iv) relative to the urban indicators, the coverage was extended to the thirteen largest cities and its metropolitan areas. Previously, the coverage only included the seven major cities of the country with its metropolitan areas. Initially, the new household survey was performed for the thirteen major cities obtaining monthly results since January 2000. Next, the information was extended with national statistics, completing the coverage of the curvey for being disseminated since January 2001. Therefore, there is no compatible information for 2000 and it is not possible to calculate the annual percentage change for the national information. |
