XIV Call for Papers - Fiscal policy challenges under the recent macroeconomic uncertainty
The journal Ensayos sobre Política Económica (ESPE)1 of Banco de la República (Central Bank of Colombia) invites the submission of papers for possible publication in its XIV special edition, which will focus on Fiscal policy challenges under the recent macroeconomic uncertainty. The guest editors are Martha Lopez and Ignacio Lozano, senior researchers of Banco de la República.
The business cycle and long run economic growth have been affected by the recent macroeconomic instability around the world. The oil prices shocks, currency depreciations, higher inflation, capital outflows, and riskier financial markets, among others, are challenges which the fiscal policy has had to deal with, particularly in emerging economies. Exploring on some of these aspects through theoretical and/or empirical approaches will contribute to a better understanding on the role of fiscal policy as well as its interactions with other macroeconomic actions.
The editors particularly welcome articles that address the special edition’s themes, including, but not limited to, the following:
- Public debt, fiscal solvency and riskier financial markets
- Fiscal and monetary interactions in a globalized world
- The interest rates and fiscal multipliers
- Fiscal policy in a high inflation context
- Automatic stabilizers and discretionary fiscal policy
- Fiscal rules and macroeconomic stabilization
- Expenditure, growth and fiscal sustainability
- Taxes and economic efficiency
- Exchange rate fluctuations and public finances
- Natural resources booms and fiscal policy
Papers submitted must be original and not being considered for publication elsewhere. This special edition will follow the journal’s editorial protocol2, which includes the evaluation of pre-selected papers by two anonymous referees. However, the editors may reject a manuscript without obtaining a referee report from an outside reviewer if the paper is deemed not to satisfy the aim and scope of the special edition.
On this occasion, each document selected for publication will receive, as compensation for the transfer of copyrights, the amount of COP $2.500.000,oo from Banco de la República, or its equivalent in U.S. dollars for those authors who are not Colombian residents.3 Additionally, the authors of the selected papers (one presenter in the case of joint authors) will be invited to present their work at the XIV Seminar of ESPE, organized by Banco de la República, to be held in Bogotá on October 20th, 2017.4 The Keynote Speaker will be Professor Todd Walker from Economics Department at Indiana University.
